Rights vs. Privilege

The video above is an awesome explanation of the difference between the right to a good or service and the actual consumption of the right or service by Steven Crowder. So much of the left and the followers of their ideas conflate rights and privileges. When Bernie Sanders and the socialists who support him talk about universal health care and other social programs they are essentially saying that we have achieved a level of wealth that can't and shouldn't be exceeded so we should now spend our hard earned wealth on those who can't or are unwilling to earn it.Â
This idea is unbelievably shortsighted. The left is choosing to consume wealth instead of use it invest in productive means of improving products and services to improve the lives of people everywhere. The left truly believes that things that are luxuries today will not be commodities tomorrow. A computer once cost a small fortune and was not all that useful. Today open source mobile phones can teach you anything you would ever wish to learn costs a few cups of coffee (can get them for around 50 USD).Â
I want you to take away one thing from this article, a government is responsible for allowing individuals to strive for the things they want and preventing others from impeding you. The attainment of the things you want is entirely up to you and your will to put in the work to get it.Â
